Delft Blue Tile 1 [D-DT-001]

Since the 16th century, hundreds of thousands of Dutch people have been living on the bottom of former lakes. In order to make this possible, many windmills were used to drain the land and keep it dry. These Delft Blue ceramic tiles (for decorative use only) depict the way it used to be. A small ' hanger ' is attached at the top should you wish to hang this on a wall...Or they look great sitting in a wooden or metal ' easel frame ' on a bookshelf or mantel top. Each tile is 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15 centimeters) in size.

Delft Blue Tile 2 [D-DT-002]

It is not known for certain when the first mills were constructed in Holland, but by the late 1200's mills were a very familiar sight. Some were used to pump water from the polders. Others were used to grind wheat or to operate saws needed to turn trees into building planks. Painted in Delft Blue colors, the tile is decorative only.  A small ' hanger ' is attached at the top should you wish to hang this on a wall...Or they look great sitting in a wooden or metal ' easel frame '. Each tile is 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15 centimeters) in size.
